Meet Claire, Our Founder

Claire Sachs, Founder of TPAC Consulting, has spent most of her professional life avoiding anything healthcare because she had lived, breathed, and slept healthcare 24 hours a day since 1983, when one near-fatal acute illness kicked off the development of what would become 13 chronic and recurring conditions. That changed in 2015 when she was invited to speak for the first time about her patient experiences. The impact she had on that audience made her realize that she could use all her unsought experience to make life better for people whose lives are as difficult as hers.

So, she founded a patient advocacy blog and, knowing the limitations of a patient bubble, began actively expanding her understanding of the healthcare ecosystem. Along the way, she has been invited to speak at Georgetown University Medical School and to sit on multiple patient advisory boards, which focus on ways to address healthcare policy, and identifying and removing barriers to effective, affordable care. She has also served as an Ambassador for the Chronic Disease Coalition.

Now, she is combining the experience gained over two decades in Washington – at a non-profit, a polling firm, a legislative affairs office, and over a decade of policy consulting in the federal agencies for nationally known consulting firms – with her lived patient experience to offer services that will help make healthcare better.

Claire has a Masters Degree in Political Management and a BA in Government. She has never managed to move more than ten miles from downtown Washington, DC. When she does slip the shackles of policy junkie-hood, she can most likely be found spending time with family or trying not to kill the plants on her balcony.

Meet the Monster

This is the medical monster that has lived under Claire’s bed since she was five years old. When she was young and things were painful and confusing, the monster was big and scary. Now, he is a familiar and sometimes comforting presence that reminds her that she can handle whatever comes.
